I want to share all the exciting changes and updates that are occurring at Temple Ner Shalom. Our new and improved library is ready for any congregant to check out books. Initially, the library was started by the late Doris Bolef. One of our newest members, Drew Koven, has organized and is currently collecting old and new editions of Yiddish, Hebrew, English books related to Jewish ideology. Updated furniture has been added making our library very inviting. Jody Nusbaum will put fresh labels on the shelving. If anyone wishes to donate their Jewish books please contact me and I will put you in touch with Drew.
Our Book Club meets once a month and is another way to meet and learn via zoom. We discuss the most interesting books from the past and present. Anyone can join and we are always open to suggestions. So far we have read 50 books, give or take! The Religious School, which is directed by Lauren Bandari, is thriving with 30 children. Eight children have started or will start preparing for their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, with guidance from Andy Schloss, Binah Polay, and Rabbi Hyman. Our children will be well prepared for their life cycle events. We gather with CBD and COT intermittently so that our children get to meet with other Jewish children in the community. We have also officially hired Rabbi Micah Hyman to be our Rabbi. Rabbi Hyman adds so much not only to TNS but to our community. We are very fortunate to have Rabbi Hyman, not only be our Rabbi, but he lives locally and is accessible to our congregation. Lauren Bandari has organized a monthly Rosh Chodesh for women and gather at Sycamore Springs. This occurs monthly with the next one on January 9, 2022. More details to follow. Our security gate is almost ready to keep TNS safe and secure. The logos will be added by Larry Schuster, the son of the first President of TNS, the late Emily McGinn. A big thank you to our wonderful Board of Directors: Armin Bandari, Saeed Niku, John Belsher, Susan Shalit, Yishai Horowitz, and our amazing CPA Ron Levy, whose guidance and support keeps Temple Ner Shalom growing and moving forward. Should any member wish to donate additional funds to any of the above line items to Temple Ner Shalom the Board of Directors would be deeply appreciative.
