what a place this is

What is it that we’re looking for at Temple Ner Shalom? Is it making a Jewish Connection? Belonging to groups whether it be the Book Club, playing Mah Jong, Social Action, Rosh Chodesh gathering? Do we belong because we enjoy listening to the Rabbi? Is it because we want our children to go to Hebrew School and meet other like children. Is it the place where we celebrate a Bris, a baby naming, a B’Nai Mitzvah, or to mourn a lost loved one? Do we go because we have a connection and feel it is our second home?


I say yes to it all. Sometimes I go just to be in this comfortable space that has been all of the above to my family.  I and others have enjoyed and have taken away all TNS has to offer. It is my home away from home.


This past Shabbat as Rabbi Hyman led our children’s service, that was well attended, I felt such pride. Watching old and new families find their joy and spirit on Shabbat. Again I say "What a place" It fills the needs on so many different levels.  Will it be ever be a giant congregation, probably not.  What TNS offers is another family that is always there for each other.  If you go to services or drop off a child at Religious School you see and feel a familiarity amongst its members.  Children running to each other as their friendships have solidified. More mature members (not older) always knowing what is going on in each other's lives because we share our experiences.


In conclusion, I say “What a wonderful place I call my home away from home Temple Ner Shalom”.
